Indiana Posts Over 2,500 New Cases, Eight Counties Under Highest Advisory Level

- In Wednesday's Indiana Department of Health daily update on COVID-19, the state reported 2,507 new cases and 19 deaths.


The IDH Update total of 2,507 new cases is the highest daily case number since its February 5th report of 2,767. Over the duration of the pandemic, 790,926 Hoosiers have been diagnosed with the coronavirus; 13,680 have died, including 19 on Tuesday.

According to last week's IDH COVID Dashboard update, 15 counties across the state were "Blue", the lowest advisory level; only one, Posey, was "Red".

In Wednesday's update, only one Blue county remains as seven more have entered the highest advisory level. Orange, Gibson, Perry, Posey, Jennings, Jefferson, Switzerland and Clay counties met the 200+ cases-per-100,000 residents and/or 15%+ positivity rate. All eight counties now under red are located in the southern half of the state.
