Indiana Hunger Group Reminding SNAP Recipients of Changes Due to Shutdown

From Feeding Indiana's Hungry

STATEWIDE -- Due to the partial federal government shutdown, Indiana's Family & Social Services Administration (FSSA) issued February SNAP benefits on January 16, 2019, at the direction of the United States Department of Agriculture.

We want to ensure that the 585,000 Hoosiers receiving SNAP benefits understand that:

1) These benefits are what they would receive for the month of February and are currently available to them to use;

2)  No additional SNAP benefits will be disbursed in February;

3)  It is unclear at this time whether or how SNAP benefits could be disbursed in March if the government shutdown does not end by that time;

4)  If and when they need additional food assistance please contact 2-1-1 for information about pantries and programs near to them.
