Indiana Housing Booms in First Fiscal Quarter

STATEWIDE -- Hoosier housing sees a boom in the first quarter of the fiscal year.
According to data from the U.S. Census, the state saw a 52% increase in building permits from February to March.
The Indiana Builders Association says the year is off to a solid start as data indicates a 6% increase in building permits over the course of the entire first quarter.
The news is a good sign economically, and it has an upside for workers.Currently, Indiana has an average of over 3,000 annual job openings in construction and similar fields.
The Builder’s Association is encouraging local employers, associations and schools to hold job fairs, panel discussions and events to inform students of the benefits of choosing a career in a skilled trade industry.
