Huntingburg Park Board Adds Two August Events

Huntingburg - Monday evening, the Huntingburg Park Board met for regular business, and approved two local events for next month.


First up was Rock for Awareness, a proposed rock concert to be held August 7th at Market Street Park. The event's proceeds will benefit addiction and the families of overdose deaths in the area. The group will be selling meal and raffle tickets, with meals opening at 11 a.m. on August 7th. Rock for Awareness was unanimously approved.

The Dubois County Disc Golf Tournaments was approved to take place on August 21st. Over 140 disc golfers would attend courses at Niehaus Park and the Dubois County Fairgrounds. The tournament will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the 21st. In turn, the adjacent driving range will be open before 8:00 a.m. and after 6:00 p.m. on that Saturday. Niehaus Park will be closed for the day.

Other Business:

-Approved the approximate $2,500 cost to purchase Bermuda sod to re-sod League Stadium 

-Discussed instituting a charge for park use in the future

-Discussed changing prices for League Stadium use; it is currently only $75 to rent League Stadium

-Discussed repairing the first four rows of League Stadium seats
