Huntingburg Man Arrested After Allegedly Assaulting Police Officers During Family Dispute

HUNTINGBURG -- A Huntingburg man is in jail today after becoming violent as police tried to intervene in a family matter.

The family of 42-year-old Chris Ferguson brought him to the police station yesterday after having several issues with him through the day.

As officers spoke to Ferguson, he allegedly became billigerant, striking an officer.  He was detained and a portable breath test was administered.

Police say the man blew a .26.

He was taken to the hospital where he again became violent, causing injuries to an officer’s hand.

Ferguson is charged with two felony counts of Battery on Law Enforcement.  He’s also facing misdemeanor charges of Resisting, Public Intoxication and Disorderly Conduct.
