By Kris Norton

Jasper - On October 24th, Halloween at Central Green in Jasper will return for its 10th anniversary event.

Halloween at Central Green, sponsored by Jasper Parks and Recreation, will be held for Jasper children 12 years and younger on Sunday, October 24th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Parents and guardians are also invited.

The trick-or-treating family event will feature candy and more, says Jasper Recreation Director Janessa Wagner.

"It is basically a trick-or-treating event, you come to Central Green and you trick-or-treat around the fountain, splash pad area," said Wagner. "We have different stations, we've got different goodies, we've got snacks, we've got toys.

In the past, the event also featured games. Though due to situations surrounding the coronavirus, they have not been able to include games for the past two years.

Though, Wagner says there is a new addition to be excited about.

"This year we are going to have a backdrop for families to take photos," Wagner said. "So, something different in replacement of those games."

According to Wagner, the Parks Department purchases and distributes a good portion of the candy and goodies, though they are accepting donations from businesses and individuals.

Interested individuals in donating for this years event may contact Janessa Wagner at the Jasper Parks Department, 812-482-5959.

In case of adverse weather, Halloween at Central Green will be held at the Habig Center.
