First Responders Drill Set For October Will Simulate Hazmat Emergency

JASPER -- You may see heavy emergency personnel presence near Farbest Foods in October as first responders are scheduled to take part in a full-scale disaster drill at Farbest Foods.

Local police, fire, EMS, dispatchers, hospital personnel, hazmat teams, industry, safety and environmental managers, and EMA Staff are encouraged to attend!

The purpose of this training is to increase responder’s ability to manage a Hazmat incident. It will focus on a fixed facility Hazmat incident.

This is a Full-Scale exercise and will allow all participants to respond and train as if it were a real situation.

The exercise is scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM and end by 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 6th.

An Anhydrous Ammonia leak at the Farbest Foods will be simulated. This exercise will involve numerous emergency response agencies.

400 West between 450 S and 500 W will have numerous emergency responders and emergency vehicles in the area.

Please try to avoid this area during the hours of 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.
