Dubois Dodges a Bullet, But Significant Snowfall Still Causes Mess on Local Roadways

JASPER -- The dire predictions of a foot of snow in Dubois County didn't quite pan out, but, residents are still digging out after up to 8 inches fell in some parts of our area.

The snow is hard to measure due to the blowing and drifting, but reports are coming in of 5 inches in Huntingburg, 7 inches in Ireland and 8 inches in Jasper.  Our friends to the north in Washington, Indiana reported 9 inches of snow.  Warm air aloft filtered in unexpectedly and turned some of our snow in to sleet.  That greatly reduced snow totals and left behind a slick glaze of ice, in addition to the snow.

In Dubois County, students are on an eLearning Day, government offices are opening late or closing all together, events are being cancelled and businesses closing due to the biggest snow storm our area has seen in quite a few years.  CLICK HERE to see the full list of closings
