Dubois County Sheriff's Office to Step Up Traffic Enforcement During Holiday Season

FROM LOCAL SOURCES

COUNTY WIDE -- The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office has announced it will increase traffic enforcement during the upcoming holiday season.

Deputies will be conducting overtime patrols during the season thanks to $3,000 in grant funding from the National Highway Traffic Administration.

It’s part of its “Click It to Live It” campaign aimed at promoting seat belt usage and reducing impaired driving.

According to the most recent data, 53% of passengers killed in fatal crashes were not wearing their seat belts.

Indiana has a primary seat belt law in place.  That means officers may ticket unrestrained drivers or passengers, even if no other traffic violation has taken place.
