Dr. Suresh Lohano Memorial Garden Paver Fundraiser

A memorial garden has been opened at Daviess Community Hospital to honor the life of a dedicated physician.

The Dr. Suresh Lohano Memorial Garden is now open at the Daviess Community Hospital. Specializing in internal medicine and pediatrics, Dr. Lohano passed away unexpectedly in an auto accident last year. The much beloved physician was described as being passionate about patient-centered care and medical innovation at DCH for over 22 years. The memorial has been created to honor his “remarkable life and lasting contributions to the health and wellbeing of our community.”

The opening included a blessing of the space and community gathering with Dr. Lohano’s wife and children in attendance. Located near the Same Day Surgery entrance at the front of the hospital, DCH says the garden “was designed as a peaceful space for reflection, featuring a paved courtyard, picnic table, commemorative plaque, and beautiful landscaping.”

The garden’s installation was made possible by a $40,000 grant by the Community Foundation through the TrueScripts Foundation Fund. In order to support its long-term upkeep and enhance the landscaping and seating, DCH launched a community fundraiser, selling personalized pavers for permanent installation in the garden. Jenna Bedwell, Chief Nursing Officer at DCH, said, “This is a meaningful way for our staff and community members to celebrate Dr. Lohano’s legacy while becoming part of a place that encourages healing, reflection, and remembrance. Every paver will tell a story, and we invite everyone to make yours a part of Dr. Lohano’s legacy.”
