SPENCER CO. -- Stephanie Melton of Spencer County EMA received on Thursday, June, 7 information regarding information to obtain Disaster Assistance from FEMA and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. Here is the information below:

To register for Disaster Assistance, visit www.DisasterAssistance.gov or call 800-621-3362 (711/Video Relay Service) or for TTY: 800-462-7585. Please have the following information ready when applying:

• Social Security number (One per household)

• Address of the damaged home or apartment

• Description of the damage

• Information about insurance coverage

• Telephone number

• Mailing address

• Banking account and routing numbers for direct deposit of funds.

Disaster assistance is available without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, English proficiency or economic status. If you or someone you know has been discriminated against, call FEMA at 1-800-621-3362.

The US Small Business Administration (SBA) has also released information for repairing homes and businesses affected after severe storms and flooding.

For repairing homes – SBA Low-Interest Federal Loans for Disaster-Related Damages offers homeowners up to $200,000 for primary residence and homeowners/renters up to $40,000 for personal property. Interest rates can be as low as 1.813% with repayment terms of up to 30 years. Deadline is July 5.

To apply, register with FEMA at DisasterAssistance.gov or download the FEMA mobile app or call (800) 621-3362. Then apply to SBA in one of three ways: online at DisasterLoan.sba.gov, call (800) 659-2955 to have an application mailed to you or visit the temporary recovery center located at 1430 Harmony Way in Evansville 8 a.m.-6 p.m.Monday- Saturday, closed Sunday. The center will be open for two weeks beginning Monday, June 11.

For businesses – Businesses can apply for SBA Disaster Loans for physical damages up to $2 million (Real Estate, Inventory, Equipment, etc.) or working capital of up to $2 million (No physical damages are necessary to apply. Interest rates can be as low as 3.580% for businesses (2.5% for Nonprofit organizations) with terms of up to 30 years. The deadline for businesses is June 11.
