Demolition Begins on Hoosier Desk Building for New Cultural Center

JASPER -- It was a gray and gloomy Monday morning as Jasper officials officially marked the start of the demolition of the old Hoosier Desk Building to make room for the new Jasper Cultural Center.

The ceremony included speakers and presentations with the pomp and fanfare we've come to expect from the city of Jasper.

"The Cultural Center will distinguish us from any other community," said Jasper mayor Terry Seitz.  "The Cultural Center will help us continue our role as a leading city in Indiana and beyond.  Life is filled with opportunities, and this, is going to become our opportunity center."

Monday's events included speeches and presentations and mayor Seitz got the chance to take the first swipe of the building.

Demolition is expected to go through October then construction on the new Cultural Center will begin.
