City of Jasper to Bring Lawsuit Against Drug Companies That Make Opioids

JASPER -- Jasper has joined a lawsuit targeting companies that make and distribute opioids.

The Board of Public Works entered into an agreement this week with an Indianapolis law firm to fight the battle in court.

Cities across the country have brought similar lawsuits.

Those cities accuse drug makers of widespread fraud and deception in the marketing of opioids.

The lawsuits allege that has contributed to a nationwide epidemic that has killed thousands.

Attorneys representing other cities in similar suits claim the drug companies owe damages for all of the tax dollars used to combat the opioid epidemic.
