JASPER -- A republican caucus will convene Saturday morning to elect a replacement for Jasper’s new mayor on the common council.

Dean Vonderheide took over as mayor on Monday after Terry Seitz resigned to work for Sen. Mike Braun.

That left a seat open on the common council that now needs to be filled.

Two candidates dropped out of the race but there are still plenty of candidates.

They are:  Steve Block, Adrian Engleberth, Chad Lueken, Steve Messmer, Paul Lorey, Bernie Fallon, Merrill Osterman, Paul Mundy, Patty Brosmer, Levi Hulsman and Richard Moss.

The caucus convenes Saturday morning at City Hall.
