Brush Fire Burns a Quarter Acre of Land in Huntingburg, Martin County Also Reported Fires

FROM LOCAL SOURCES

HUNTINGBURG -- Strong winds and dry conditions caused a field fire in Huntingburg over the weekend.

Huntingburg Fire crews responded to a report of a brush fire around 3 p.m. Sunday in the 7000 block of South 200 West.  It scorched around a quarter of an acre of land.

The residents of the property were burning dead vegetation when winds blew smoldering embers, causing the brush fire.

In Martin County, Firefighters took to social media to say it was a beautiful day to cookout, but they were working through the day to contain 4 brush fires.  The gusty winds helped fan those flames as well.

The good news is, so far, there were no reports of any property damage or injuries.
