AUTHORITIES: Do Not Burn Today, Fires "Will Get Out of Control" Due to Breezy, Dry Conditions

AREAWIDE -- Afternoon relative humidity between 25 and 30 percent, along with moderate winds from the southwest, will create an increased wildfire danger today across the Ohio Valley.

Conditions will improve after sunset, but stronger winds on Wednesday with gusts up to 30 mph will result in continued fire danger, especially across south- central and east-central Kentucky, where humidity values will not recover much.

Authorities in Martin County are asking residents not to burn today.  " Current weather conditions are still dry and windy making it dangerous for controlled burns. Controlled burns will become OUT-OF-CONTROL very quickly in these conditions. We are asking the public not to control-burn at this time due to the potential fire hazard spread. Thank you for your cooperation!"

Officials in Marengo have issued an official "burn ban" for residents there.
