"It Happens Here:" CASA to Provide Free Training to Prevent Childhood Sexual Abuse

JASPER -- Dubois County CASA is hosting a free training later this month to prevent childhood sexual abuse.

"It happens here," says Deena Hubler from Dubois County CASA.  "We don't like to think it happens here, I don't like to think it happens here but it does.  It happens, probably, far more frequently than anyone can imagine."

She continued, "By giving this training, we can prevent some of this and, anytime we can prevent any child from any sort of abuse, that's a good thing."

This particular program isn’t for kids.  It’s to ensure adults know what to look out for to keep their children safe.

"Predators groom adults in a child's life and we don't often realize that.  By not having that knowledge, we're opening up our children to people that, maybe, we shouldn't.  Many times, they are encouraging their child to be with this person because they are so well groomed."

The free program on preventing child sex abuse will be February 18th at Pine Ridge Elementary School.  It begins at 6 p.m.  There will be a free nacho bar.  To RSVP, call or text (812) 639 – 0143.
