Taco Pie

1 deep dish pie crust shell
1 lb. ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 package taco seasoning
1 (16 ounce) can refried beans
1 jar taco sauce
2 cups shredded cheese
12 tortilla chips, crushed
shredded lettuce
shredded tomato

Preheat the oven and a cookie sheet to 400 degrees. Thaw pie crust for 10 minutes. Prick the bottom and sides of the pie crust thoroughly with a fork. Bake the pie shell on a cookie sheet for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and reduce the temperature to 350 degrees.

In a skillet, cook the ground beef and onion until the meat is browned; drain excess fat. Add taco seasoning mix to the meet according to the directions on the package.

In a small mixing bowl, combine refried beans and 1/3 cup taco sauce; mix well. Layer half of the refried bean mixture in the bottom of the pie crust. Top with half of the seasoned meat, 1 cup of cheese, and the crushed tortilla chips. Repeat the layers, excluding the tortilla chips.

Bake on the preheated cookie sheet 20-25 minutes. Remove from oven. Top with lettuce, tomato, and additional taco sauce to taste. <i> You can add other taco toppings as well. Sour cream, jalapenos, etc…</i>
