1 cup beef bouillon, crushed
1/4 cup dried minced onion
1/2 cup dried split peas
1/2 cup uncooked small twist macaroni
1/4 cup barley
1/2 cup dry lentils
1/3 cup long-grain white rice
1 cup uncooked tri-colored spiral pasta
Using a funnel, layer ingredients in the following order: crushed bouillon, onion flakes, split peas, small macaroni, arley, lentils and rice. Then add enough tri-colored pasta to fill the quart jar. Put lid on jar and attach with a recipe gift tag:
Brown 1 pound of ground beef or stew meat in a little olive oil.
Remove tri-colore pasta from top of jar and reserve.
In a pan, add the rest of the contents of the jar along with 12 cups of water. Boil and simmer 45 minutes. Add tri-color pasta and simmer 15 minutes more.
