Elinor “Dotty” Weisman, age 89

Elinor “Dotty” Weisman, age 89, passed away surrounded by family at 3:32 a.m. on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, Indiana.  


Dotty was born on February 11, 1934, at home near Zoar, Indiana, to Frank and Lydia (Linstrot) Beumer. She married Luther E. Weisman on September 15, 1956.  He preceded her in death on August 29, 2022. 


She was a graduate of Holland High School and then earned a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from Ball State University and a Master’s Degree in education from the University of Evansville. 


She worked at Pike Central Middle/High School for 28 years as the school nurse.  She founded Pike County Hospice in 1984.  She was a Parish Nurse following retirement. 


She is survived by her son, Tom (Tina) Weisman, Otwell, IN, and daughter, Ann DeCarlo, Westfield, IN, two grandchildren, Father Christian DeCarlo, Muncie, IN, and Sarah (Derek) DeSpain, Noblesville, IN, and two great grandchildren, Emerson and Leo. 


Preceding her in death besides her husband, Luther, are one son, Kevin Weisman, one daughter, Lydia Weisman, one grandson, Kurt Weisman, five brothers, Herbert, Alvin, Everett, Frank, and Delbert Beumer, and two sisters, Florence Bradford and Garneta Swenson.  


A memorial service for Elinor “Dotty” Weisman will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial at a later date. 


A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. service time at the church on Wednesday, January 31.
