Two Dead in Shooting After Argument in Bicknell


The victim and suspect have now been identified in shootings in Bicknell, in Knox County that started around 2 am this (Wednesday) morning.

• Victim: Paul Ryan Russell, 33, of Bruceville. No address.

• Suspect: Todd Godare, 48, 400 block of Main Street, Bicknell, IN

The ISP report says that Russell was standing outside when he noticed Godare walking toward him.

Russell ran into a nearby residence and retrieved a baseball bat before going back outside. An argument ensued and Godare allegedly shot and killed Russell with a .22 caliber revolver.

Godare left the scene in a 1999 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck. Approximately two-hours later, Vincennes City Police located and attempted to stop his vehicle.

Godare eventually stopped on SR 61 near Kimmell Road and shot himself. Investigating officers believe Godare used the same weapon to take his own life.

According to Knox County Coroner Gordon Becher, both autopsies are scheduled for Thursday morning.

Indiana State Police and Bicknell Police Investigate Overnight Shooting

Knox County – Indiana State Police, Knox County Sheriff’s Office and Bicknell Police responded to the 700 block of Durbin Street in Bicknell this (Wednesday) morning around 2 am after a 33-year-old Knox County man was shot and killed during an argument with another man.


The shooting occurred outside the residence where neither of the men resides. The suspect then left the scene driving a 1999 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck.

At approximately 4:00 a.m., Vincennes City Police spotted the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver failed to stop and continued driving on various city streets. About 3 minutes later, the driver stopped and used a handgun to take his own life.
