Two accidents occurred this morning, one involving a motorcycle that sent the driver to the hospital and closed SR 56 for a short time.
A Dubois County Sheriff Department report says that 44 year old Stephen Plimpton the 2nd of French Lick was westbound on SR 56 just past Kellerville road at 7 am, when he lost control of his 2005 Yamaha and laid it down on its side, skidding about 185 feet before coming to rest in the roadway.
Plimpton complained of pain to his head, hip and hand. He was transported to Memorial Hospital for treatment.
His motorcycle sustained damages of around $2,000.00.
No charges were filed. State Road 56 was closed for about 30 minutes to clean up the accident.
Officers with Jasper Police Department were summoned to a rear-end accident this morning at 7:40 am on 3rd Avenue, just before the traffic light at Meridian Road, where 62 year old Glenn Kempf of Ferdinand was stopped in backed up traffic at the light in a 2010 Ford F150 pickup truck when his vehicle was struck from the rear by a 2006 Chevy Silverado pickup driven by 18 year old Logan Schroering of Jasper.
The report says Schroering was unable to stop to avoid the crash. He was cited for Following Too Closely in the accident.
No injuries were reported. Total damage estimates to both vehicles was set at $4,000.00.
