Indiana Conservation Officers investigated three ATV accidents over the weekend, which sent several to area hospitals for medical treatment.
In Crawford County officers were called to private property near Milltown on Sunday around 11 am where a 5 year old suffered a leg and possible back injury after she was operating a small ATV and lost control and it rolled over on top of her.
The girl was wearing a helmet and chest protector at the time, which limited the severity of her injuries.
She was airlifted to Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville for medical treatment.
The second ATV accident on Sunday happened near Decker where 48 year old Lisa Hansen of Vincennes was operating an ATV along a levee where the terrain changed and caused an accident which injured Hansen. She was treated for pain to her wrist, but was later released from the hospital.
The third happened Saturday afternoon near Huntingburg on CR 200 West near the airport where two 13 year old females were riding an ATV and the driver had to take evasive action to avoid striking a deer.
The ATV went off of the road and struck a gate and ejected both riders. Both girls were taken to Memorial Hospital where they were treated and released.
