Twenty-six Indiana high schools have entered 39 cars in four classes of competition in the 8 th annual IMSTEA Super Mileage Challenge that will be held at Lucas Oil Raceway Park in Indianapolis on Monday.
Area high schools scheduled to compete include:
- Jasper High School (Wildcat Motorsports)
- Forest Park High School
- Southridge High School
- Paoli Jr., Sr. High School
- Evansville Central High School
Each school must submit a detailed technical proposal covering all aspects of the design and construction of their cars in order to attain the highest miles per gallon of all the cars.
The Unlimited Class of cars average over 1,000 mpg and this year the field will seek to break the 1,500 mile per gallon barrier.
