Southridge High School has a new head football coach. The hiring of Scott Buening from Jennings County High School was approved by the Southwest Dubois County School Board Monday night.
Buening has ties to Spencer County, as his wife’s family is from Rockport.
He takes over for Kelly Murphy, who announced earlier this year that he was retiring as the football coach to focus instead on his role in the administration of the school – now as the interim principal for Southridge Jr. Sr. High School.
Among other actions taken by the board:
The school board passed an increase in the school lunch prices. School officials told the board that due to the increase in food costs, the move was necessary. Currently the school pays 95 cents for each elementary lunch and $1.25 for each high school lunch.
The board passed a declaration and sale of surplus property from their vehicle operations that included four vehicles and other items used in the maintenance of those and other vehicles.
They also passed a motion to approve the sale of obsolete computer equipment to Creative Recycling of Tampa Florida. Included in the list were around 250 mini laptops and around 100 desktop computers.
