Ferdinand’s new Police Chief is on the job. 43 year old Ricky Patton was sworn in as the new Police Chief Wednesday afternoon around 4:30.
Town Manager Marc Steczyk said that Patton’s drug test came back with no problems and so the Town wanted to get him sworn in as soon as possible.
Steczyk says that Patton had his first full day on Thursday but has been busy even before that:
Steczyk says that so far, response has been positive:
He takes over for Ted Bieker, who stepped down after nine years as Chief in mid-May, citing on-going conflicts with the Ferdinand Town Board and Town Manager.
Additionally, Patton has one year to fulfill Indiana Law Enforcement Academy requirements and to establish his residence within Ferdinand or a two-mile perimeter of town.
