UPDATE:  Stolen Car Found

*** UPDATE:  Police have located the stolen vehicle in another county.  No arrests have been made at this time.


JASPER — Jasper Police are asking for the public’s help locating a stolen vehicle.

It was stolen from the area of 7th and Anderson Streets yesterday morning between 7 and 9 am.

The vehicle is a black, 1999 GMC Jimmy.

Plate number 301T J W.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Jasper Police.

Police remind you to lock your car doors when its parked and don’t leave your keys inside unattended.


Man Arrested on Marijuana Charges

HUNTINGBURG — A Huntingburg man was arrested on marijuana charges after police say they found him passed out behind the wheel.

It happened just after 11 last night in the 17 hundred block of North Main Street in Huntingburg.

Police say 23-year-old Zachary Reller was passed out with the car in gear and his foot on the break.

Arrest reports show Reller had a small amount of marijuana on him Along with paraphernalia.

He’s charged with possession of those items, as well as OWI.


Huntingburg Woman Accused of OWI, Leaving Scene of Crash

HUNTINGBURG — A Huntingburg woman  was arrested last night accused of driving drunk and leaving the scene of a crash.

Police say the crash happened last night just after 9:30 in the 200 Block of Van Buren Street in Huntingburg.

Police say Kitty Bieker left the scene but was found a short time later at her home.

Police say she admitted to the crash.

Her blood alcohol level was .10%, according to arrest reports.

Bieker is charged with OWI and Leaving the Scene of a crash.

Luckily. no injuries were reported.



Killed Firefighter to be Laid to Rest Today

A Daviess County firefighter, killed in the line of duty, will be laid to rest today.

Kendall Murphy was struck and killed by another responding firefighter Friday on the scene of a crash.

Police say that firefighter, Colby Blake was drunk.


Funeral services for Kendall Murphy will be held at 11 a.m. this morning at the Simon Graber Complex.

Burial services will follow at Providence Mennonite Cemetery.



2 Killed in Washington Crash Monday Night

*** UPDATE — The two killed in last night’s crash in Washington, Indiana have been identified as Marilyn and Kaitlyn Mattes, both from Washington.  Kaitlyn was Marilyn’s granddaughter.


WASHINGTON — 2 people were killed last night in a crash near the intersection of State Road 50 and 57.

Police say a semi t-boned a car around 9:30 last night.

2 people in the car were killed.

The semi driver was taken to the hospital.

Police say the two are local residents, however their identities are not being released until family can be notified.

This story continues to develop.

Renovations continue on the downtown building as the Next Act, the group behind the refurbishment of the threatre, prepares for a big grand re-opening Saturday, April 14th 2018.

The re-opening coincides with the 82nd anniversary of the building’s original opening on April 17th 1936.
