Huntingburg Recycling Site to Accept Oil Once Again

HUNTINGBURG —  The Huntingburg Recycling site has announced it will once again accept oil.

The county recycling site stopped taking unwanted oil last year when its oil container began leaking.

Crews spent the past several months installing a new container to hold the oil.

Carla Striegel-Winner, director of the county solid waste district says the county needed to do this right, adding it’s important environmentally and legally  to have a safe waste oil container.

The new oil container sets on a concrete base and enclosed by a lean to protect it and keep it operational longer.

County recycling sites in Ireland and Pine Ridge will also be getting new oil containers and new leans to protect them.

The county then plans to build more buildings to protect existing containers at all of the county’s 8 recycling sites.
