Giesler Announces Run for Dubois Co. Assessor

JASPER — Dubois County’s Deputy Assessor Angela Giesler has announced she’s running for County Assessor in next year’s election.

Giesler has served as the second deputy in the Assessors office since 2007.

She also worked in the auditor’s office for 7 years.

The Jasper native says she plans to run next year on the Democratic ticket.


Area High Schools Compete in Marching Band State Finals

INDIANAPOLIS — Area high school marching bands were in Indianapolis Saturday competing in the ISSMA state marching band finals at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Jasper High School took home 6th in the state in class B competition.

Springs Valley in French Lick took home the top prize in Open Class D.

Also in that class —-

Forest Park came in 3rd.

Paoli 4th.

Tell City 6th

And Southridge 7th.


Sheriff’s Dept. Asking for Help in Crash Investigation

DUBOIS CO — The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in an accident investigation.

It happened Friday morning at 5:10 on State Road 64 near the Bretzville Junction.

Police say Vickie Wirthein of Huntingburg tried to turn onto 162 and hit a vehicle going the opposite direction.

That car was driven by Kent Sillings of Morengo.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is urged to contact the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.

Luckily, no injuries were reported.
