From the Dubois County Free Press:
Nick Jahn, engineer with VS Engineering of Indianapolis has been hired to help the City of Jasper make repairs to the outer foundation wall of the Jasper City Mill.
The Jasper Board of Works & Safety in their April 9 th meeting authorized City Engineer Chad Hurm to have a contractor examine the foundation of the Jasper City Mill.
This morning the Board of Works & Safety heard that Jahn has visited the Mill and is in the process of working up quotes on what will need to be done to repair the outer wall of stones that fell into the river after receding waters created pressure that toppled several stones from the foundation.
We asked Jasper City Engineer Chad Hurm when he thought the work would be done:
The waiting is also forcing the City to wait on paving the parking lot. That project was anticipated to be finished by June because the Society for the Preservation Of Old Mills is holding a convention in Jasper in June with the Jasper City Mill at the center of the event.
