The Jasper Arts Board met for their monthly meeting Tuesday afternoon at 4:30.
Arts Director Kit Miracle says that the next concert in the performer series is an exciting presentation by ScrapArtsMusic, an innovative percussion theatre featuring five performers who play instruments made from salvaged and recycled junk. The presentation is on Sunday, March 17 th .
Miracle says that tickets are still available for this production that the whole family will enjoy.
The Russian Ballet comes in on the next Friday, March 22 nd .
Both of these performances present a lot of work for Arts Center workers. Technical Director Doreen Lechner requested volunteers from the Arts Board to help with moving equipment and instruments – known as “load in” – to the Jasper Arts Center the day before the performances.
Next, we spoke with Arts Education Coordinator Donna Schepers about the Brown Bag with the Arts Series coming up on Friday:
The event is this Friday, March 8 th beginning with networking at 11:45 am to 12:15 pm and then the presentation by Martin at 12:15.
The event is at the Jasper Arts Center Krempp Gallery. Bring your lunch and the fee of $5.00 includes dessert and beverage. You can reserve a spot by calling 482-3070.
Finally, Arts Board Chairman Mike Jones says that he has nothing new to report on the New Arts Center Building front – the Board is in a waiting mode until the City of Jasper closes on the golf course property. City Attorney Renee Kabrick was at the meeting and reported to the Board that the closing can come at any time due to the fact that the Department of Local Government Finance in Indianapolis has approved the City of Jasper use of money from the rainy day fund to buy the property.
