Huntingburg, Ind. – The City of Huntingburg has received a “notice to proceed” from the Indiana Department of Transportation for the railroad overpass project. The notice authorizes the city to begin contracting work for preliminary engineering services for the project. DLZ Indiana, LLC is the engineering firm chosen by the city and Dubois County to provide these services.
Huntingburg Mayor Denny Spinner says, “This is a major step for the railroad overpass, a project that will greatly impact our community. We are grateful to the county for partnering with us and for investing in Huntingburg.”
DLZ Vice President Gary Fisk said, “DLZ is very honored and excited to design the reconstruction and extension of Styline Drive for the City of Huntingburg. Funds were successfully obtained by the city and INDOT to supplement up to 80% of the cost of most design and construction activities.”
The initial phase of the project will include survey crews collecting land features for the new road. VS Engineering and Brosmer Land Surveying will assist DLZ in these efforts.
The railroad overpass project was announced in June 2013 and will be completed sometime by the fall or winter of 2018.
