Humane Society Plans Changes to Board

Mary Saalman, acting Board President of the Dubois County Humane Society has announced that the Humane Society Members are encouraged to attend the annual membership meeting on Thursday, March 21st.

Saalman says that the purpose of the meeting is to discuss amendments to the Articles of Incorporation that would transition the Board of Directors from a membership based organization to a governance board.

Twenty-five paid members who have given within 30 days prior to the annual meeting are required to be present to successfully make the change.

Saalman says, “The acting volunteer board is asking its members to formally approve this change, evolve the organization into a governing board that focuses on building long term sustainability with donors and volunteers rather than members.”

The Humane Society received a grant in November from the Dubois County Community Foundation, enabling a non-profit expert, Indiana Nonprofit Resource Network, to lead and assist the Humane Society with the changes.

The annual meeting is open only to members who have contributed within 30 days prior to the meeting.

Members must RSVP no later than March 15th by email to DCHS@yahoo.com or by calling 482-7387 during adoption hours on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 6:30 pm and Saturdays from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
