No victims have come forward in the case against Ryan Bieler, the 33 year old former Ireland resident who was charged last November in a federal exploitation case.
U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett was in Jasper at 1:30 this (Tuesday) afternoon to announce that Bieler has agreed to plead guilty to one count of possessing sexually explicit material involving minors and four counts of receiving sexually explicit material involving minors.
Bieler is a former Senior District Executive of Boy Scouts Buffalo Trace Council based in Evansville which includes five counties: Warrick, Spencer, Perry, Pike, and Dubois.
Hogsett says that the Buffalo Trace Council has been very cooperative throughout the investigation and that no one has come forward with any information on victims in the case.
When asked what would happen if victims came forward after Bieler’s sentencing, Hogsett said that those incidents would be tried as separate from the original charges.
Bieler could face up to 10 years in prison for the count of possession of child pornography, and up to 20 years for the count of receiving child pornography, as well as substantial fines if he is found guilty. Bieler also faces lifetime registration as a sexual predator.
Hogsett said that his sentencing could come within 60 Days in Evansville.
