Alcohol Believed to be Factor in Single Vehicle Crash

Alcohol is allegedly a factor in a crash that injured a Haysville Man Tuesday at around 3:23 and had US 231 traffic snarled while emergency crews cleaned up the scene.

Dubois County Dispatch called out Haysville First Responders and Memorial EMS on the report of the single vehicle crash, where 73 year old Richard Brinkman of the 5800 block of N US 231 was driving his 1995 Ford F150 pickup truck northbound on 231, near Marvin’s Computers, when he attempted to turn into his driveway on the east side of the road, but overshot the entrance and his truck went into the ditch and rolled onto its side.

Brinkman had to be extricated from his vehicle by emergency crews and sustained injuries to his face and arms.

Dubois County Deputy Stuart Wilson also reports that Brinkman was driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level of .16 percent. He was taken to Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Charges of OWI are expected to be filed against Brinkman and the investigation is on going into the crash.

It took about 2 hours to clear the scene of the accident.
