“Did You Know?” Campaign Wins International Awards for Curbing Minor Consumption

The firm behind the “Did You Know?” marketing campaign, which raised awareness about the dangers of providing alcohol to minors in Northwest Indiana, recently gained attention on the world stage after earning two distinguished industry awards.

Crown Point-based Diversified Marketing Strategies (DMS), the firm that designed and produced the “Did You Know?” campaign on behalf of Merrillville-based Geminus, earned a “Best of Category” distinction from the Summit International Awards (SIA) and a Gold Award for Branding/Marketing Collateral from the Hermes Creative Awards.

More than 1,800 entries from 17 countries were judged by the SIA’s Marketing Effectiveness Awards this year. In total, there were 13 “Best of Category” winners worldwide. The “Did You Know?” campaign was a winner under the “Public Service/Advocacy” category. Over 1,500 entries were judged by the Hermes Creative Awards Committee and placed Gold in the “Branding/Marketing Collateral” category.

They had a powerful message to share throughout the region, and we were able to exceed their expectations and deliver a campaign that ultimately could save a young person’s life. “Did You Know?” targeted adults as part of an effort to curb minor consumption in the region. This project involved numerous specialty items placed throughout liquor stores and other establishments to remind adults about the dangers of providing minors with alcohol.

This project included packaging designs for alcohol purchases, bags, pen holders at points of sale, koozies, highway billboards, banners, counter mats, and much more. The client, Geminus, is a regional care group member that provides social services throughout Northwest and Northern Indiana.
